PRIVATE CLASSES
Keith Henry has been teaching various forms of print and papermaking for over 25 years and he has taught student class workshops in 5 facilities, two colleges, and three personal studios. Keith is now offering private instruction either out of his private studio or he will come to your studio. One-on-one Printmaking and Papermaking courses for all levels of experience are available.
Keith also provides professional development opportunities for arts educators wishing to incorporate print techniques into their curricula. Based on space availability and individual class requirements, Keith works together with educators either at the instructors facility or in Keith's private studio for workshop sessions, providing materials, instruction and technical assistance as required
No matter what your level of experience is, these courses will allow you to further your knowledge and experiment with the full potential of each technique.
In each course,
specific techniques
will be addressed.
Beginners will learn the key skills of each technique.
Intermediate students will gain a more in depth understanding of the techniques and processes.
Advanced Students will learn how to combine the various techniques and how to print large formats.
PRIVATE & SEMI PRIVATE WORKSHOPS
Workshops are kept small to facilitate more individual instruction. Classes are flexible and can be scheduled according to your needs. They are an excellent way to discover new mediums and techniques or to further develop skills in different mediums.
Class fees include a limited amount of ink and proofing paper.
Private classes
40 $ / hour. Minimum 3 hours
Semi private classes
2-3 participants
25 $ per person / hour. Minimum 3 hours
Experimentation will be encouraged. The imagery for prints is
the responsibility of the artist. Basic tools and materials are provided.
Advanced Professional Development Classes
Teachers and professional artist who which to hone their tecniques will trully benefit from a professional development class aimed at addressing their specific area of concern. Contact Keith to discuss if a professional development class is right for you.
Lithography
In this beginners workshop offers Keith Henry will guide participants through the process of grinding and preparing a lithographic
stone using a levigator, creating the image on the stone using lithographic pencils, rubbing crayons, various tusche and toner washes,
inking techniques, paper preparation and operation of the lithographic press. No previous experience necessary.

Intaglio
Participants in this beginner’s course will
be introduced to the method of intaglio printmaking, using an engraved copper plate to print their design.
The hands-on workshop content will include: plate preparation, ground application, drawing on the plate,
etching the plate, plate wiping techniques, printing the plate and editioning your work. All tools and
materials will be provided, however students are encouraged to bring sketches or reference imagery for
their desired image.

Relief
During this class, you will focus on relief printing (carving into wood or linoleum). Demonstrations in carving,
inking, and hand printing will take place. Participants will gain a good understanding of the materials and techniques
of designing, cutting and printing, including: transposing images into woodcut formats; transferring drawings to the blocks; incorporating various
woodblock cutting techniques; the basics of tool sharpening and maintenance; experimenting with papers; and,
the use of press and hand-printing techniques. We will explore one and two colour block, multiple block and reduction
techniques. A great opportunity to create hand made note-cards or frame-ready art for the wall. All tools and materials will be provided.

Papermaking
This course is designed to be a introductory workshop and is suitable for absolute beginners and those
wishing to access the facilities to make some handmade papers. After a brief introduction to the workshop layout
and Health and Safety, the day will be very much hands-on experience trying out different fibres / pulps in a
variety of mould sizes. You will have gained knowledge of the papermaking process, sheet forming experience,
further creative possibilities with paper and have a selection of handmade papers at the end of this course.
