SILENT NIGHT POST OFFICE 1999

"Silent Night," the famous Christmas carol, was first performed 1818 in Oberndorf, Austria. In remembrance to the carol, Oberndorf will once again offer a special seasonal pictorial postmark beginning on Nov 26.

This year's postmark depicts the Silent Night Chapel, and celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the Silent Night Memorial Chapel in Oberndorf.

To order a special Oberndorf envelope with the 1999 special postmark and Austrian Christmas stamp, send two International Reply Coupons OR two US dollars (return airmail postage is included in this amount) to address below.

If wanted, the Silent Night Museum will forward your Christmas mail from Oberndorf with the special postmark and the Austrian Christmas stamp. Send your own addressed envelopes (without stamps!!) and two US dollars for airmail postage to the Museum address below. Latest date to receive this service is the 15th of December.
