Feature Articles

  • Santons-de-Provence - George W. Rohrer describes the French custom of creating Nativity scenes from little figurines called santons. Many of the santons have been portrayed on the stamps of Monaco and France.

  • Mark of Compassion - Tony Shaman discusses the history of Christmas seals in Denmark, the United States and Canada.

  • The Unrecognized Architects of Christmas - John Hotchner wonders why the United States Postal Service has not recognized Clement Clark Moore, author of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" or Thomas Nast, well-known cartoonist who gave form to the modern version of Santa Claus, on issues of postal stamps. He hopes that the postal service will mark the 100th anniversary of "Yes, Virginia..." with a Christmas stamp in 1997.

  • Merry Christmas in October - Glynn Peacock describes Christmas issues of South Africa.

  • Christmas Customs Around the World - Glenn Vasbinder visits China and Australia and describes some of their Christmas customs.

The invitation to membership in the Christmas Philatelic Club is open to any Christmas topical philatelist who is seriously interested in associating with those who collect likewise.

Current dues are $20 per year for persons living in North America. Other Countries: $30.00 (US funds). Send an international money order in US dollars.
