"The Shepherds of Les Baux"... George
Rohrer, CPC #1499, reminisces among the ruins of the medieval French village of Les
Baux-de-Provence. Feudal lords in the Middle Ages who ruled much of Southern France
claimed to trace their ancestry back to Balthazar, one of the Magi. At Yuletide at the
12th century Romanesque church of Eglise Saint-Vincent, local shepherds perform a yearly
ritual of bringing a newborn lamb as an offering to the Christ Child.

#1051, continues to share his enjoyment of collecting Religion on Christmas stamps with
readers of the Yule Log. Rev. Pieper continues the journey of Mary and Joseph from
Nazareth to Bethlehem.
'Round the World Christmas Covers . . . Richard
Beecher, CPC #987, illustrates two covers from Zambia using Christmas stamps issued in
earlier years and overprinted with a new value much higher than their original 80k and 90k
values.
"The Carols and Songs of Christmas" .
. . Glenn Vasbinder, CPC #484 continues his series by describing the origins of the Welsh
carol "Deck the Halls" and an old French melody "The Holly and the
Ivy."
Christmas Philatelic Club Auction - Mary Turner and Richard Sartor describe 111 lots
of Christmas philatelic material. Many lots are illustrated. The auction includes
worldwide stamps, First Day Covers, Postal Stationery, Santa Reply Letters, Meters and
Miscellaneous Christmas items.
