The Post Office
Christkindl/Steyr . . . by Dr. Jason H. Manchester,
CPC #1761...Dr. Manchester tells how he befriended a collector while visiting and
International Stamp Show in Vienna. They have kept up a letter exchange and at Christmas
time his friend sent his letters via Christkindl. A newspaper clipping enclosed in the
letter tells of several men taking a 25 mile hike to the mountaintop Post Office at
Christkindl/Steyr. A picture of the Post Office is shown.

Wilmer Bloy, CPC #1363 . . . A discussion of the 1965 Christmas weather vane stamp
that shows a feminine Gabriel blowing a trumpet.

Prevey, CPC #971. Pat describes and illustrates stamps issued for New Year's. Stamps
issued to honor the start of each New Year have become very popular in the last few years
-- especially in countries that do not have a large poulation who celebrate Christmas.

Column" ...by Robert A.
Haslewood, CPC #860 . . .Bob describes the small rural community of Christmas Island,
Nova Scotia. Since 1994, collectors have been able to have their mail stamped with special
red and green Christmas cancels. Several covers with Christmas Island postmarks are
illustrated.
"Some
Christmas Covers from Africa". . . by Richard
L. Beecher, CPC #987. Richard shows two commercial covers from Africa. The first
cover, sent via registered mail from Burundi to Chicago is franked with Easter and
Christmas stamps. The second cover sent from Benin to Paris, France has two Christmas
stamps from different years. Each stamp bears both a secular and religious motif.
