Review of the January/February 1996 Yule Log


Feature Articles

  • First Day Ceremony in Christmas, Florida - Suzanne Yankowski, CPC member from Clearwater, Florida, reported on the activities for the First Day of Issue Ceremony for the 1995 "Midnight Angel" and the "Children Sledding Down a Hill" Christmas stamps. The article was illustrated by a photo taken by the author picturing Santa Claus, the Blues Brothers (special guest stars) and an enlargement of the Children Sledding stamp.

  • A Short History of the Postcard - Dr. Kenneth Lewis, CPC member from San Angelo, Texas, reported on the history of Christmas postcards with illustrations of some early 20th century Christmas postcards.

  • Reports - Included were two pages of Christmas cancels, a report on the 1995 issues from the United States, Canada, and San Marino. Information about a Sorbian Christmas custom illustrated on a stamp from the German Democratic Republic was included. The date for a CPC meeting at Capex in June was revealed.

  • Christmas Customs Around the World by Glenn Vasbinder featured the Netherlands.

  • Donation Auction featured 140 lots of stamps, first day covers, Christmas City covers, seals, pictorial cancels, miscellaneous covers and postcards.

The invitation to membership in the Christmas Philatelic Club is open to any Christmas topical philatelist who is seriously interested in associating with those who collect likewise.

Current dues are $20 per year for persons living in North America. Other Countries: $30.00 (US funds). Send an international money order in US dollars.
