Jack Gauthier started making willow furniture in 1993 as a past-time.  He later progressed  into holding workshops that teach people how to make chairs from willow.  The workshops were very successful, but some of the people he taught became his competition, therefore he stopped holding workshops, and concentrated only on making items to sell.

    His techniques improved because he had more time to spend making items rather than teaching how to make them.  He then moved on to making larger items such as garden trellises, arbours and and an assortment of furniture.
