Lessons

    Marie Bastien is our instructor.  She has been teaching since 1995 and riding since 1985.  She brings a wealth of knowledge to her students.   Marie is a calm and patient instructor, that knows when to push a rider and when to hold back.  She has been our instructor since the school began.  All our success is thanks to Marie.  Marie began her show career later in life.  She primarily rides our young horses giving them a solid foundation in the show ring prior to our students taking the reins.  She has experience in both the hunter and the dressage show rings.  Please view our show results of our coach and students successes over the last few years.

    We pride ourselves on producing top level rider year after year.  Whether you ride for fun or competition, our goal is to help you be the best you can be!

    All lessons are private lessons.  We have some students who wish to show and we attend schooling, trillium and A/National shows with them.  We are a very open barn and those who do not wish to show are not pushed to show.

Private lessons are $40 for 1 hour or $30 for 45 minutes.  Semi-private lessons are for $30 for 1 hour when available.

Lunge Line lessons are available for children 5 and up at a cost of $25 for a half hour.

    We use only the best behaved horses in our lesson programs.  They are limited in the amount of work they are allowed to do in a week.  Each horse works for a maximum of 6 hours a week.  This still allows them two days off to be horses.

    Here are our current school horses.

Moon Mist is  a reg. Arab mare standing 15hh.  She is a very quiet mare, who attends shows with students in hunter and dressage.  Everyone who comes to Rosewood Stable starts on Moon Mist.  She was Reserve Champ in Hunter twice in one season out of 4 shows and received scores of 64% in dressage training level.  Misty also competes at Trillium level in dressage.  Misty competes most weekends in dressage and hunter shows.  She has many ribbons under her belt and year end awards.  Misty is also used to give younger children lunge line lessons.  Visit our show results page to get all the details on her successes.  She was trained by Marie and has been in our program since 2000.

 Rosewood Elite is also used in lesson. He can be viewed under horses for sale he is available for an in barn half lease.

    Elite is a homebred Canadian Warmblood Gelding.  Born in 2005, he is now being used by our intermediate riders.  He competed as a 3 year old in Dressage winning the Year End Award.  He began his hunter career as a 4 year old and has won the Year End Award in that too!  He is extremely talented and at the age of 4 can easily clear a 4'4" oxer.
