TAM, the transparent
anatomical mannequin, was one of The Health Adventure’s first pieces of
professional exhibitry. Still in use today, TAM lights up, turns, and tells
visitors (in Spanish and English) about how her body is constructed and
functions (anatomy and physiology). Joining TAM in the Miracle of Life
Gallery is the U.B. Healthy Hospital: a gurney complete with a stuffed
doll patient, x-rays and a viewer, a neonatal intensive care area with
preemie dolls, a physical therapy area with wheel chair and crutches, an
exhibit explaining the wonders of DNA, and Swedish photographer Lennart
Nilsson’s spectacular photographs of the growth of a baby inside the womb.
Miracle of Life is sponsored by the Kate B. Reynolds Health Care Trust
and Mission St. Joseph’s.
