La Dolce Vita is a lovely, comfortable, bright and airy 3 bedroom villa set in a tropical garden on 2/3rds of an acre on the lower hillside overlooking Spring Bay, and kept cool by gentle ocean breezes.
Lounge on the decks, play in the pool, enjoy the breezes and watch the palm trees sway. Relaxing is just so easy here.
Life doesn’t get much better than this.
The villa is set up as two fully functioning separate units with the main living quarters above and the guest quarters below.
On the main level the long covered living and dining terrace 54 x 12 provides sweeping views of Spring Bay, Spring Plantation, and the islands of Battowia and Balliceaux. The terrace wraps around the east and west ends of the house back to the bedrooms. Stairs go down to the lower level from the east end of the verandah off the living room.
The main living space or Great Room which encompasses the living room and kitchen is 36 feet long x 16 feet wide, with 3 sets of French doors across the front to the living and dining verandah, another set of French doors leading to the courtyard entry, and another off the east end which makes for an open, airy living space. The owners like to entertain and the dining area that normally holds a table that seats 6 to 8 can easily hold two extended tables with seating for up to 20, or smaller tables along the length of the verandah. Furnishings on the verandah include a couple of lounges, several deck chairs, dining table and chairs, a Weber barbecue, etc.
|The kitchen is absolutely fabulous, newly redone with lots of cupboard space and concrete countertops…the kitchen is approx 12 x 16 feet…it’s big and wonderful with lots of preparation and storage space…the dining counter makes a great surface for buffet serving for entertaining…kitchen is double wired for both 220 and 110 electrical service…|
The courtyard entrance is 18 x 17 and it provides another seating or casual dining area, furnished with a purple heart table, chairs and shaded by a large market umbrella…the floor of the courtyard is paved in beach pebble stones from Balliceaux…
The master bedroom on the west side of the house, about 17 x 11, gets a nice cross breeze with windows on the east and west, and French doors to the wrap around verandah…nice and bright and airy…walk in closet. The master bedroom contains a Queen sized metal framed canopy bed, bedside tables and two dressers.
The master bath is a large gorgeous wet room with a rain shower, the shower space being about 6 by 6 with a tiled bench seat across the one side…the bathroom vanity is a lovely antique mahogany sideboard from Canada with custom fitted cultured marble double sinks…bathroom size is approx. 12 x 6
The guest room is currently being used as an office/bedroom, but it is the twin to the master bedroom in size, but on the opposite or east side of the upper level…like the master bedroom there is plenty of space for a queen size bed, and is nice and bright and airy…walk in closet
The guest bath has a tub with shower, and the bathroom vanity with double sinks has lots of storage…approx. 6 x 11
Downstairs is a self contained, separate, private and spacious one bedroom apartment with tropical décor featuring local artwork with it’s own kitchen and living room which could be treated as a 4 th bedroom, it’s perfect for renting out, or for friends and family…the verandah across the front of the apartment spans the whole front of the apartment from the pool deck across to the private veranda at the opposite side, and has the same wonderful view out over Spring, the farm below, the coconut plantation, Spring Bay, and out to Battowia and Balliceaux…
The apartment master bedroom is quite spacious and airy, 15 x 12, with large windows on the west side out to the private verandah and French doors leading to the gallery across the length of the downstairs (36 feet)…currently furnished with a very comfortable Queen size bed, lots of storage, a few easy chairs and a desk and chair.
The bathroom is about 7 x 8 with a large glass shower, bathroom vanity has storage and a single sink.
The kitchen is about 13 x 12 and is fully equipped for guests or renters with fridge, stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, food processor, etc…there is another set of French doors off the kitchen to the gallery…
The living room, or possible 4 th bedroom is about 11 x 8 ½ feet with it’s own entrance off the side deck…the couch is a full sized single bed that folds back to make a full double bed…this room could easily be made larger by removing the one wall and enclosing part of the deck outside…

The pool deck starts from the bottom of the stairs and is approx. 17 x 13…there is a bench seat that runs the length of the pool deck and pool…the pool is 12 x 24 with a submerged bench seat running the length of it, wonderful for chilling out with a book, or watching the stars at night…stairs to below the pool and into the orchard and to the steps down through the woods to the lower road are off the east end of the pool…the pool is finished in diamond-brite with a pebble stone coping and is operated by a salt chlorine generator…deck tile is non skid…there is a separate 8000 gallon water tank for the pool water supply
There are also two storage rooms on the apartment level, one an interior room off the living room with electrical panel, and water pump and clean storage space, and the other is an exterior room off the lower deck with tool storage, pool equipment and gardening tools
Water for the house is caught on the roof and stored in a 28000 gallon cistern that forms part of the ‘basement’ of the house
The house is at about 140 feet above sea level…the property runs from the road above to the road below, with a concrete set of steps down from the pool deck through the woods to the lower road which makes the walk to the beach shorter…parking lot above the house with parking for 2 cars as well as space along the roadside for more parking…you walk down a flight of stone covered stairs to the courtyard entrance to the house…

La Dolce Vita is a few minutes walk from Spring beach, about 10 minutes walk to Industry beach, and about 30 minutes walk into Port Elizabeth where most of Bequia’s shops, boutiques, restaurants, banks, etc. are located. Rental cars or mokes are available from several sources and there are plenty of taxis available.
La Dolce Vita is in Spring Estates and there are some covenants as part of the estate that run with the deed…ie: can’t have farm animals, or nuisance animals, can’t have bright lights that shine into somebody else’s home, can’t have a chain link fence, can’t let your trees grow high enough to block somebody else’s view, mostly good neighbour courtesies…
