Well, it’s been an interesting first month and a half! I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to check the website for homework every school day (it is updated daily) at:
http://web.295.ca/aleccamp/room6online.html.
If you find your son or daughter is coming home with too much homework, make sure you ask him or her what he or she is doing with the time he or she is given to work in class (my guess is that he or she is wasting a lot of it)!
The first month has had its ups and downs. The class is settling in, but needs to focus clearly on the task at hand.
Text Box: Many students are still primarily concerned with how quickly they can get something done, whereas I am primarily concerned with how well they can get it done!
This month, Shelly Zister and Olivia Campbell begin volunteering in room 6, and will work with students in small groups. Other volunteers will also begin helping out this month, at a date to be determined soon.
Students have been studying living creatures, aboriginal myths and culture, number patterns and basic mathematical operations, spelling and grammar, the writing process, how to be a spiritual light to others and Text Box: the basic rules of the French language,
Remember parents—extra help is always available (recesses, lunch). Please encourage your son or daughter to ask for help if he or she needs it. There are 28 students in room 6 and one teacher—it is easier for students to seek me out!
